Bradenton Man Accused of Hanging, Beating Puppy
A 39-year-old Bradenton man is accused of beating a puppy after it chewed on one of his shoes.
BRADENTON, FL — A 39-year-old Bradenton man faces felony charges after police say he hung his 3-month-old puppy and punched her in the head.
The case against Carleau Mesidor began to unfold Monday, Oct. 17 when police received a report about alleged animal abuse in the 900 block of 16th Street West. Investigators say they learned that Mesidor held up the puppy, named Zoey, by the neck using a black-and-yellow lanyard.
“While the puppy was hanging by its neck, Mr. Mesidor punched the puppy in the head several times,” an email from the police department said. “The violence was done because the puppy had chewed on one of Mr. Mesidor’s shoes.”

Police took Zoey to a forensic veterinarian for evaluation. The vet determined Zoey suffered an orbital fracture and has injuries consistent with being held by the neck and being punched, the email said.
Police found a total of three dogs at the 16th Street West home. All three were voluntarily surrendered to Manatee County Animal Services and are now being medically evaluated, police say.
