Bradenton Opening Sandbag Location

With more rain expected over the Labor Day weekend, Brandenton is offering residents free sandbags.

BRADENTON, FL — With the National Weather Service warning of the potential for more rain over the upcoming Labor Day weekend, already-soggy Bradenton is taking no changes. The city announced Thursday it would make sandbags available to residents on Friday.

Sandbags will be offered to those who need them from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 1 at the Bradenton Public Works & Utilities Department, 1411 Ninth St. W., according to an email from the city.

“These sandbags are for city of Bradenton residents,” the email noted. The limit is 10 per person.

The weather service says there is a potential for heavy rain over the next few days. Those chances are highest on Saturday and Sunday, but storm chances are also in the cards for Thursday and Friday.
