Bradenton Out Of Sandbags Until Wednesday, City Says
The city of Bradenton is out of sandbags, but plans to resume handing them out on Wednesday.

BRADENTON, FL — City of Bradenton residents hoping to pick up sandbags are out of luck until Wednesday morning. The city announced late Tuesday afternoon it had run out as residents across the community prepare for the potential wrath of Hurricane Irma.
“There are no more sandbags left today and public works crews are currently filling bags for distribution tomorrow,” city spokesman Tim McCann wrote in an email.

McCann said distribution will resume at 9 a.m. Sept. 6 and last until 4 p.m. No decisions about Thursday had been made as of Tuesday afternoon.

Sandbags can be picked up on Wednesday at Bradenton Public Works & Utilities, 1411 Ninth St. W. The limit is 10 sandbags per resident.
As of the National Hurricane Center’s 2 p.m. Sept. 5 update, Irma was packing maximum sustained winds of 185 mph as she headed toward the Leeward Islands. The powerful Category 5 storm is following a projected path that is expected to bring her into contact with Florida over the weekend.
