Chase Nets Man Wanted for Attempted Murder

A man wanted in a November shooting took off when police tried to stop him for a traffic infraction.

A man wanted for attempted murder was arrested today, after police tried to pull him over for a traffic stop, according to a Bradenton police report. 

Ahmad R. Hird, 21, of Bradenton was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with attempted murder in connection with two separate shootings at 712 12th Ave. West on Nov. 24.

Hird also was charged with possession of cocaine, fleeing to elude an officer, and operating a motor vehicle without a driver license.

According to Bradenton Police reports:

Hird was wanted in connection with a Nov. 24 shooting in the 700 block of 12th Ave. West, where a suspect shot at least 10 rounds from a large-caliber weapon, hitting a man. The bullets also hit a house in the neighborhood, but none of the occupants was injured.

Police say that a shooting earlier that day, at the same location, was related. In that shooting, three victims were hit by bullets. All three victims were treated and released from local hospitals.

Hird was caught Wednesday, after Bradenton police tried to pull him over in the 1100 block of 1st St. East. He fled at a high rate of speed.

Officer Joshua Small later found the vehicle in the 2600 block of 5th St. East, where Hird had apparently crashed into a tree stump.

Officer Jeanine Gagliano, and her partner, K-9 Blitz, tracked Hird from the crash scene and arrested him.

Two others have also been arrested, in connection with the Nov. 24 shootings.

Desmon A. Evans, 19, of Palmetto and Dominique D. Hird, 20, of Bradenton, were both arrested Nov. 24. Evans was charged with principal to attempted murder, grand theft auto, fleeing to elude a police officer, obstruction of a police officer and no valid driver license.

Dominique Hird was charged with two counts of attempted murder, grand theft auto and obstruction of a police officer.
