Dad Jailed After Threatening Man Who Approached His Daughter

A 32-year-old father was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly threatened to kill his neighbor who had approached his daughter while she was riding her bicycle, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Timothy Sims, 600 block of 33rd Avenue Drive East, Bradenton, was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, armed trespassing and carrying a concealed firearm after he went to the neighbor’s house, threatened him, then pointed a gun at the man’s dog.

According to the report Sims’ daughter, 10, was riding her bicycle outside their residence when the neighbor, who was walking his dog on the other side of the street, asked her to “come here, come here.”

The girl immediately went inside and told her father, while the neighbor walked the dog back to his home, the report said.

Sims put a handgun in his pocket and went to the neighbor’s house a few blocks away, then threatened to kill him and pointed the handgun at the pooch, the report states.  

Sims denied the accusations, but was arrested after MCSO found two firearms, several fully loaded magazines and several rounds of ammunition in his home.

The MCSO detectives decided that while the neighbor’s actions were questionable, he did not violate any law.

Sims is being held without bond at the Manatee County Jail.
