Daughtrey Elementary Students Get Free Books on World Book Day

Students at Daughtrey Elementary in Bradenton all received free books from the Manatee YMCA.

From YMCA: Students at Daughtrey Elementary in Bradenton will all receive a free book to take home as part of World Book Day, thanks to the Manatee YMCA.

On Thursday, March 2nd at 9:00 a.m., Daughtrey will celebrate World Book Day by handing out more than 1,000 books that were collected during the Manatee YMCA’s third annual holiday book drive. Students from every grade will receive a new or gently used book.

“The Y’s holiday book drive started when we learned that 65% of students in Manatee County didn’t have a grade-level book at home,” said Sean Allison, president and CEO of the Manatee YMCA. “We knew we had to step up and help.”
