'Deplorable Conditions' at Bradenton Home Lead to Child Neglect Charge
Four young children were taken from the mobile home during a welfare check after they were found left unattended, including a 6-month-old left alone with a screwdriver next to his head, officials said.

Four children ranging in age from 6 months to 5 years old were taken from a Bradenton home found to be in "deplorable conditions" during a child welfare check, authorities said Friday.
Deputies and child welfare investigators were called to the mobile home in the 700 block of 30th Avenue West on Friday afternoon, where they said they found some of the children — ages 5, 2, 1 and 6 months — left either unattended or outside playing next to a busy roadway.
At one point, the 6-month-old was left on a couch unattended with a screwdriver near his head while the mother ran outside to retrieve the other kids, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report.

The mother "seemed to be unconcerned about the conditions or her actions" during an interview with authorities, the report said.
Simey Luna, 25, was arrested and charged with child neglect. The children were sheltered by Child Protective Services.
