Deputy Tasers Man Who Threw Bicycle at Him, Sheriff Reports

The man is suspected of an aggravated assault reported on 49th Avenue Terrace West in Bradenton, authorities said.

A deputy used a Taser on a suspect in an alleged assault who later threw a bicycle at him Monday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The deputy responded to the scene of an aggravated assault that had been reported earlier in the day in the 1000 block of 49th Avenue Terrace West. When he arrived around 10:30 p.m. he found the suspect on the porch grabbing a bicycle.

When the deputy challenged the suspect to show his hands, the suspect picked up the bike and threw it toward the deputy, the sheriff's office reports.

The deputy used the stun gun to subdue the suspect, identified as Brian Sellers, 49, who is homeless.

Other deputies arrived and took Sellers into custody without incident.
