Driver Charged With DUI Manslaughter In FL Crash With Motorcyclist

A driver accused of driving under the influence in a Monday night crash was arrested on multiple charges, Bradenton police said.

BRADENTON, FL — A driver accused of driving under the influence on Monday night was arrested on multiple charges, the Bradenton Police Department said.

Milton May, 52, of Bradenton was charged with DUI manslaughter and DUI with serious bodily injury.

May left a local business just before 10:15 p.m., according to traffic homicide investigators.

He was driving his pickup east on 42nd Avenue W. when he went into the path of a motorcycle traveling northbound on 59th Street W., police said.

The motorcycle’s passenger, a 35-year-old Palmetto woman, was killed in the crash. The motorcyclist, a 28-year-old Bradenton man, was critically injured and remains in the intensive care unit, BPD said.

May stayed at the scene but exhibited signs of impairment, according to investigators.

After he refused to submit to field sobriety tests, he was arrested and brought to a nearby hospital, where investigators obtained a warrant to collect a blood sample. The results are pending.

He’ll be brought to the Manatee County Jail once he receives medical clearance, police said. Additional charges are possible.
