The report said the victim got the intruder outside of the house, where he continued to hit the intruder in the face.
The resident managed to get back into the house and called the sheriff's office.
"While doing so, the suspect came back up to the house and punched out the glass on the front window, then got on top of the victim's vehicle and stomped on the windshield until the windshield broke," according to the incident report.
The intruder got away on foot. The sheriff's office used a dog in an attempt to track him but was unsuccessful.
"Photographs of the scene and the victim were taken and uploaded in accordance with agency policy," the incident report said, adding that DNA swabs were also taken.
