Humane Society Hosts Benefit on Sunday

The Golden Bowls Awards are the local highlight of Awards season. Who needs a golden statue when you can adopt a Golden Retriever and name him Oscar?

The stars will be out along Main Street in Lakewood Ranch on Sunday for the Inaugural presentation of The Golden Bowls Awards.

So they may be more celebrity look alikes than actual celebrities, but area dogs will be dressed like they are going to the Academy Awards. You can't miss the resemblance to celebrities like Clint Eastwood, Marlon Brando, James Dean and Angelina Jolie.

Of course, celebrity judges will determine just how good these pooches look as they walk down the red carpet. Who will get best dressed? Best hair? Most glamorous pooch? Celebrity judges Max Winitz, Hayley Wielgus, Carol Whitmore and Connie Gellnor will decide.
