National recognition is very important for this chapter because it not only gives a ranking but also sets our school apart from events and chapter activities.

“This award is a big honor for us,” stated LRHS agriculture teacher and FFA adviser McKenzie Gorsky. “There have been a few years where we have been knocked down to second star ranked chapter, which we still greatly appreciated, but it gave us more fuel and motivation to work hard for us to get back up to a third star ranked chapter.”

The National Chapter award has different ratings. The highest one is a third star ranked chapter which recognizes that the chapter meets all areas of the award program. The second star rank recognizes that the chapter meets all the areas but not as efficiently. The lower ranks aren't recognized as often because they either don't meet the requirements, don't apply or simply aren't nationally recognized.

Currently Lakewood Ranch is a third star ranked chapter.

To apply for the recognition, an FFA chapter must fill out a written application, have good standings with FFA, and follow the set of requirements for the specific contest membership and FFA involvement.
