Manatee Accepting Applications For Healthcare Advisory Board

The board makes recommendations to Manatee County for funding healthcare services.

BRADENTON, FL – Manatee County is looking for residents who want to help guide financial decisions about healthcare in the county.

The county is accepting applications for four positions on the Manatee County Heathcare Advisory Board. The volunteer group evaluates, monitors and discusses the healthcare system in Manatee County and makes recommendations to the County Commission regarding the funding of healthcare services.

The advisory board reviews evidence-based practices and programs, along with related data, to determine how the county and other assets can be maximized and new resources chosen to enhance the long-term stability and effectiveness of programs available to residents who have no other meaningful means of access to health care.

Eligible applicants include Manatee County residents with the following qualifications:

  • Two consumers of Manatee County-funded healthcare
  • One representative with a background in health care
  • One business person

Appointees must be knowledgeable about healthcare and willing to meet a minimum of eight times per year on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. The board meets in the ninth floor BCC Conference Room of the County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W. in Bradenton.

Other meetings may be scheduled as necessary. Employees, owners or voting board members of agencies that receive funding from Manatee County Government, or people who contract with agencies that receive county funding are ineligible to serve of the board. The exception are practicing physicians who may receive no more than 1 percent of their gross income from county-funded healthcare.

In an effort to have diverse opinions on the board, Manatee County encourages residents from across all communities to apply to participate.

Applicants will be asked to submit a resume or a CV. All information provided within applications will be made public. All applicants must compete the new form, even if they applied previously.

Applications are due by Thursday, Aug. 31 at 5 p.m. The application can be found at www.mymanatee.org/advisory_boards. Supplemental questions to the applications can be found on Page 5 of the form.
