Marauders Hosting 2nd Annual Toy Drive at Pirate City

Marty's Toy Drive will assist The Salvation Army helping children in need in Manatee County.

BRADENTON, FL – While most pirates find it better to take than to give, Marty the Marauder enjoys giving rather than receiving.

The Bradenton Marauders will host its second annual Marty’s Toy Drive on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 9 to 11 a.m. The event will take place at Pirate City, the Marauders’ base of operations, located at 1701 27th St. W.

New, unwrapped toys will be collected and donated to The Salvation Army for distribution to children in need in Manatee County. A complimentary continental breakfast will be offered to people who bring toys to the event.

Donors will also receive a Pittsburgh Pirates or Marauders promo item from a treasure chest and free entry into a raffle for a Pirates Spring Training Prize Pack, which includes four tickets to a Spring Training game at McKechnie Field.

The Toy Drive is named for the Marauders’ mascot, who will be attending the event as Marty Claus. The Marauders will offer complimentary photos with Marty Claus to anyone attending the event. Photos will be e-mailed to attendees in the week following the toy drive.

The Salvation Army’s “Adopt a Family” program helps provide gifts for more than 1,500 children in Manatee County during the holiday season. Gifts have been pledged for more than 900 children this year already. Marty’s Toy Drive will help The Salvation Army fulfill the wishes of children who are not adopted through the program in the coming weeks.
