Local music school Music Compound is well known for its music lessons and live performance opportunities as well as its summer reading program and masterclasses. Now, Music Compound is launching a new effort: the “Thrive in 2025” parent/caretaker workshop series, to provide guidance on and tips for common family issues.

The inaugural event, “From Overwhelmed to Empowered,” will take place at Music Compound (775 Bell Rd., Sarasota) on Tuesday, September 9 at 6 p.m. Featured presenters are: author and advocate Leanndra Yates, M.Ed., a former classroom and special education teacher and assistant principal, who founded Exclusive Insights, LLC in Sarasota; and Allison Phinney, LMHC, a neuro-affirming counselor and founder of Roots Family Counseling. Complimentary childcare will be available.

The program will equip attendees with:
  • Practical tools to create emotionally safe routines and minimize daily friction;
  • Strategies to support diverse learning needs through neuro‑affirming rhythms and schedules;
  • Inspiration to help their child(ren) explore—and thrive in—local community opportunities tailored to their unique passions; and
  • Actionable steps to reduce feeling overwhelmed and to build connections at home, school and throughout the community.

“As we have worked with our hundreds of member families and students, we hear parents and caretakers talk about common challenges and we thought we might be able to help,” said Music Compound owner and President, Jenny Townsend. “Our ‘Thrive in 2025’ workshop series will tackle a wide variety of issues; this first program would be perfect for parents, caregivers and community members who are seeking guidance and support in balancing busy schedules while nurturing children’s growth and passions.”
