Music Compound successfully launches ‘Thrive in 2025’ parent workshop series
Inaugural event brings nearly 20 families to discuss navigating school transitions, dealing with emotional overload, and nurturing interests

Local music school Music Compound has successfully launched a new effort: the “Thrive in 2025” parent/caretaker workshop series, to provide guidance on and tips for common family issues. Its first workshop, “From Overwhelmed to Empowered,” was held on September 9 and brought nearly 20 families together for interactive discussions and Q&A.
The featured presenters were: author and advocate Leanndra Yates, M.Ed., a former classroom and special education teacher and assistant principal, who founded Exclusive Insights, LLC in Sarasota; and Allison Phinney, LMHC, a neuro-affirming counselor and founder of Roots Family Counseling. Primary topics of conversation included navigating school transitions, dealing with emotional overload, and nurturing children’s interests.
“The workshop was wonderful: a real, in-person conversation about parenting with both professionals and other moms,” said Asya Stuart. “It felt very positive and action-oriented. I was also so relieved to [be able to] bring my baby, who enjoyed the kids’ lounge. I hope there will be more events like this!”

“I felt so empowered and encouraged when I left,” added Génesis Hey Krick. “I came home with new ideas and concepts on how to help my growing family set goals together.”
Music Compound owner Jenny Townsend was gratified by the response to the event, sharing that many attendees asked us to extend the time and for another session on this topic, due to the great value shared. Townsend initially decided to offer the series after hearing and being a part of conversations by member families and students, discussing common parenting challenges, and thought this programming might be of value.
