A no-swim advisory was issued for Palma Sola South, the Florida Department of Health said.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A no-swim advisory has been issued for Palma Sola South along State Road 64 near Palma Sola Bay, according to a Florida Department of Health in Manatee County news release.
No-swim advisories are issued when enterococci bacteria levels exceed federal guidelines for safe swimming, the agency said. Contact with the water there could make beachgoers sick.
The advisory is in effect until the water meets Environmental Protection Agency safety guidelines.

As a participant in the Healthy Beaches Program, DOH-Manatee collects water samples
at select beaches each week. The samples are then sent to labs to determine whether
or not levels of enterococci, which can bring human disease, infections or rashes, are acceptable based on EPA standards.
The DOH received test results from samples taken at Palma Sola South on June 19 and June 22 that showed an elevated level of the bacteria.
