Pedestrian Killed In Early Morning Crash: Police

A 49-year-old pedestrian died early Monday when he was struck by a vehicle in Bradenton, authorities said.

BRADENTON, FL — A 49-year-old pedestrian died early Monday when he was struck by a sport utility vehicle in Manatee County, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The SUV was traveling southeast on US Highway 301, approaching the intersection with 15th Street East.

The driver was a 36-year-old woman from Bradenton, who had a 17-year-old and a 34-year-old man as passengers; they were not hurt, state police said.

The pedestrian was trying to cross US Highway 301 near the intersection of 15th Street East when he was struck by the vehicle. State police said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
