Safe Children Coalition (SCC) is pleased to announce the hiring of Gregory N. Brown, as its new Chief of Innovation and Financial Strategies. This is a new position for SCC, one that blends forward-thinking creativity with fiscal stewardship, ensuring the organization adapts to change, maximizes impact, and remains financially resilient.

In this role, Brown will be responsible for driving organizational innovation while ensuring long-term financial sustainability and strategic alignment. Key responsibilities will include financial planning, forecasting and modeling; developing and implementing financial strategies that align with the organization’s goals; providing fiscal insights and guidance on major initiatives, including grant applications, partnerships and capital projects; overseeing the development, management, and execution of the annual budget; leading and coordinating periodic audits; and more.

“We are thrilled to welcome a team member of Greg’s experience and skills to the organization,” said SCC president and CEO Brena Slater. “He has a proven record of success in increasing revenue streams, budgeting, risk management, and operational leadership – all of which will support our work as our organization grows and evolves to meet the ever-changing needs of our community.”

Brown, who was a longtime CPA and was certified in IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), owned his own consulting firm, serving international corporations and companies in Florida prior to focusing solely on nonprofit organizations. He has worked for Habitat for Humanity organizations in South Florida starting in 2011, serving as Chief Financial Officer for the Greater Miami and Greater Palm Beach County organizations – with a brief stint as CEO of the Key West & Lower Keys affiliate – as well as the CFO for the MidOhio affiliate in recent years.

He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Florida International University and his Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Miami.
