State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s TRIO SSS Program Supports Winter 2025 Graduates’ Success
SCF's Outstanding Graduate Award (OGA) winner and an OGA finalist are among the Winter 2025 graduates who participated in SCF's TRIO SSS.

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF)’s Outstanding Graduate Award (OGA) winner and an OGA finalist are among the Winter 2025 graduates who participated in SCF’s TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program and earned their associate in arts degrees.
SCF’s TRIO SSS program is funded through a federal grant to improve retention and graduation rates among low-income students, first-generation college students and students with disabilities. The program offers academic advising, tutoring, financial aid assistance, scholarship guidance, career exploration, mentoring, workshops and other support to help students stay in college, graduate with a two-year degree and transfer to a four-year institution.
The 10 graduates who were named at SCF’s Winter 2025 grad walk and traditional graduation ceremonies on Friday, Dec. 5, included OGA winner Brittany Marshall Davis and finalist Aaron Rodriguez, Yvette Guzman-Rodriguez, Sofia Morelli, Johana Morelli-Morales, Caleb Mcmanaman, David Calderon, Sofia Zavala Aguirre, Luisa Sanchez-Herrera and Chasity Navarro.

Marshall Davis is a first-generation college graduate originally from Texas. She participated in TRIO SSS, student government leadership and other activities. She plans to transfer to a university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in environmental sustainability and cultural anthropology.
Rodriguez is a first-generation college graduate from an immigrant family. He participated in TRIO SSS, student government leadership and the Future Business Leaders of America Collegiate club. He plans to transfer to the University of South Florida to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing.

Reflecting on the meaning of TRIO SSS and SCF, Rodriguez stated, “TRIO and SCF give students like me an opportunity to excel at school by believing in me when sometimes it’s hard to believe in myself.”
