Water Quality Advisory Issued At Manatee County Beach: FL Officials

High enterococcus bacteria levels were found in water samples at Palma Sola South beach, the FL Dept. of Health in Manatee County said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A water quality advisory has been issued for Palma Sola South beach, according to a news release from the Florida Department of Health in Manatee County.

High levels of enterococcus bacteria were found in water samples taken May 6 and May 8 at the beach, which is located on the east end of the Palma Sola Causeway and the south side of Manatee Avenue West.

Based on the results, the water quality at Palma Sola South doesn’t meet the state’s recreational water quality standards, FDOH said.

The department advises against any water-related activities at this beach as there’s an increased risk of illness to swimmers.

Signage letting the public know about the poor water quality at the beach was posted last week. It will remain in place until the bacterial content in the beach waters returns to acceptable levels.
