Deputies are investigating a possible slaying after a 30-year-old woman's body was found inside a Bradenton residence.

The woman's ex-husband had gone to the residence in the 5900 block of 36th West sometime Sunday night to drop off the woman's son, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report.

When no one answered the door, the man entered the home and saw "evidence of a crime," the report states.

Deputies were called to the home around midnight and discovered the woman in a bedroom "with signs of trauma to her body," officials said.

An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death.

The victim's name will be released after family is notified, a sheriff's office spokesperson said.

Detectives are following several leads and, at this time, do not believe this was a random incident.  Anyone with information is asked to call MSO at 941-747-3011, ext. 2518 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
