1 Dead, 1 Critically Injured In U.S. 41 Head-On Collision: Police

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A 20-year-old Tampa woman was killed in a head-on collision Sunday morning on U.S. Highway 41, Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to investigators, the 20-year-old was driving a Chevrolet northbound on U.S. 41 southbound. A 21-year-old Thonotosassa woman was driving a Nissan in the correct direction of travel on U.S. 41 southbound at the same time around 6:56 a.m. The Chevrolet and Nissan crashed into each other head-on. The driver in the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the crash, according to detectives.

The 21-year-old driver was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries, troopers said.
