1 Dead in Gibsonton House Fire

A person died in a Monday night fire that broke out at a home in Gibsonton.

GIBSONTON, FL — Hillsborough County Fire Rescue is investigating the cause of a Monday blaze that claimed one life.

According to the agency, a call about a fire in the 11600 block of East Bay Road came in around 8:30 p.m. Oct. 10. When crews arrived on the scene, they found heavy smoke and fire coming from a doublewide mobile home.

“Crews started their fire attack, but due to the amount of fire and heat coming from the home crews had to perform a defensive attack from outside the home,” an email from fire rescue said. “It took crews about an hour to get the fire under control.”
