5 Things To Know About Aliquity in Time for Today's Chili Fest

The Aliquity Chili Fest 2012 is set for 1-3 p.m. today, Feb. 25, at the Bell Shoals Animal Hospital at 1401 Bell Shoals Road. Take a taste and help a charity, with tasting cups costing $3 for one, $5 for two.

Then today's the day for you to go two-for-two, with attendance at Aliquity's 2012 Chili Fest, held this year at .

The annual event is held in March to give local business owners and individuals a chance to see how their chili recipes measure up against the homespun competition. The winner is chosen by you, the public, with the votes cast after a round of tasting.

Tasting cups cost $3 apiece, or $5 for two cups.  and proceeds are donated to the charity of choice of the overall winner of Chili Fest 2012. The entrance fee for the contest is $25.

Bell Shoals Animal Hospital placed first in last year's competition, followed by the Brandon Junior Woman's Club (second place) and Hillbilly Chili (third place).

Five Things To Know About Aliquity:

  1. Aliquity hosts events that connect businesses to their communities while supporting local charities.
  2. Business owners pay a vendor fee to showase at an Aliquity event or they become an Aliquity Community Partner, which allows them to attend events for free and to be included in promotional materials and posters. The annual cost is $100.
  3. Annual Aliquity events include: Dog Fest, The Jingle Run at Bell Creek and Chili Fest.
  4. Aliquity is a 501(c)(3) organization, which means donations are tax deductible.
  5. Volunteers are welcome to help out at Aliquity events, at which students also can certify service hours.
