Boy’s Condition Serious After New Year’s Eve Hit-And-Run
A 13-year-old boy remains in serious condition as the search for the motorist who struck him continues.

RUSKIN, FL — A 13-year-old boy struck by a hit-and-run driver remains hospitalized in serious condition as the Florida Highway Patrol continues its search for the motorist involved.
According to a Tuesday email from the agency, troopers are still looking for information that might lead to the identity of the driver involved in the crash that put Cameron Fuller in the hospital.
Troopers say the crash happened around 7:20 p.m. Dec. 31. A vehicle, believed to be a green SUV, was heading south on U.S. 41 in the inside lane. That vehicle was south of the State Road 674 intersection as Fuller was crossing U.S. 41 from west to east south of the marked crosswalk.

The SUV’s driver didn’t see Fuller’s bike, a highway patrol report said. The front of the vehicle hit the bike, but then kept on going.
Fuller was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital with critical injuries after the crash, the report said.

Witnesses have said the vehicle is believed to be a green 2000 to 2006 Chevrolet Suburban. It likely has damage in the area of its left front headlight.
