Eychner for the past 17 seasons reportedly has been the defensive coordinator at Hillsborough High.
He fills the position vacated by John Lima, a two-time Coach of the Year honoree, who despite leading the Eagles to the playoffs four out of the past past six years, was not rehired for the job in December.

According to a TBO.com report, Eychner was one of 37 applicants for the position and was content working as an assistant for veteran Hillsborough head coach Earl Garcia. But when the Brandon job opened, Eychner decided to apply.
He "interviewed real well, said all the right things and has a great background in coaching," Brandon principal Carl Green told TBO.com reporter Bill Ward.
