Update: Deputy Extricated From Vehicle at Windhorst and Falkenburg Roads

Two deputies were injured, one seriously, in an April 18 accident at Windhorst and Falkenburg roads in Brandon.

Update: April 18, 9 p.m.

BayNews 9 is reporting that a Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputy is in serious condition after being extricated from a cruiser involved in an accident at Windhorst and North Falkenburg roads.

Michael Hannaford, 30, reportedly sustained a punctured lung and a broken  hip after being extricated from the passenger side of a cruiser being driven by deputy Christopher Maffei, 28, who sustained minor injuries.

The second vehicle involved in the crash reportedly was driven by Teresa Tymes, 32, of Tampa. She and a passenger were not injured, according to the report.

The crash was under investigation.

Detective Larry McKinnon was headed to the scene of an accident at Windhorst and Falkenburg roads involving a deputy with unkown injuries.

That report came from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 6:33 p.m. tonight, April 18.

"Preliminary information at this time is that one deputy is trapped in the vehicle," reads the news release on the crash, which is reported to have occurred at 5:45 p.m.
