Where To Find the Cheapest Gas?

GasBuddy.com gives some aid in the search to find the cheapest gas. Tampa, Florida, state and national gas prices and trends are included in this report on Greater Brandon prices.

 

The search is on for the cheapest gas you can find and today’s best bet in Brandon might be with these lowest prices reported at GasBuddy.com on March 27 at 8 a.m.

The site, updated daily with visitor reports, at this reporting for regular gasoline lists 23 stations for Brandon, with prices ranging from $3.79 to $3.89 per gallon.

For premium gas, prices ranged from $3.99 to $4.39 per gallon, based on reported visitor updates for 20 stations. (The second-to-highest prices in each category were $3.85 and $4.15, respectively.)

For midgrade fuel, prices ranged from $3.99 to $4.05, with reports from 21 stations. (The second-to-highest price was $4.04.)

For diesel fuel, prices ranged from $4.12 to $4.17, with reports on 18 stations.

Prices across the states, as of March 27, ranged from 3.480 in Wyoming (where prices trended steady) to 4.318 in Illinois (where prices trended up). California was next highest at 4.304, followed by Washington (4.090), Oregon (4.067) and Connecticut (4.044). Also rising above $4 were New York (4.032) and Wisconsin (4.031).

Florida placed 31st on the list from lowest- to-highest priced gasoline. Florida was at 3.895 (up from 3.585 on July 9 and down from 3.909 on May 10). 

Nationwide, prices held steady in 11 states, rose in 17 states and dropped in 18 states.

In all, 46 states were reported.

The average price in Tampa held stable (3.867), as well as the average price in Florida (3.895), where the price trended down. The nation's average was reported at 3.868.

According to a map credited to the American Petroleum Institutegasoline taxes as of January 2012 in 17 states ranked in the highest category, "greater than 48.8." The chart looks at the combined local, state and federal taxes in cents per gallon. Florida was in that highest category (53.4). Ranking at the top and bottom of the list in that category were New York (67.4) and Alaska (26.4).

For regular gas locally, the cheapest price reported was:

  • $3.79 at Sam's Club, 2021 West Brandon Blvd. (near Providence Road)
  • $3.79 at Costco, 10921 Causeway Blvd. and Interstate 75
  • $3.84 at Mobil, 936 East Bloomingdale Ave. and Bell Shoals Road
  • $3.84 at RaceTrac, 10324 Causeway Blvd. and South Falkenburg Road
  • $3.84 at Murphy USA, 1110 East Brandon Blvd. (near Mt. Carmel Road)
  • $3.84 at RaceTrac, 810 East Brandon Blvd. and North Oakwood Avenue
  • $3.84 at 7-Eleven, 1531 East Brandon Blvd. and South Mt. Carmel Road

For regular gas locally, the highest price reported was:

  • $3.89 at Farm Stores, 103 Windhorst Road and Parsons Ave.
  • $3.89 at Sunoco, 1301 Parsons Ave. and West Windhorst Road
  • $3.85 at BP, 10323 Causeway Blvd. and South Falkenburg Road
  • $3.85 at Shell, 934 Lithia Pinecrest Road and Lumsden Road
