Update: Injured Motorcyclist ID'd in Oakfield Drive Crash

Update, 1:37 p.m.:

The injured motorcyclist in has been identified.

Brent Donaldson, 50, of Tampa, is in critical condition at Tampa General Hospital, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports.

Officials said Donaldson was driving southbound on Morrison Road in Brandon at 8:19 a.m. Monday when he failed to stop at a stop sign before attempting to turn right onto Oakfield Drive. Donaldson's 1999 Harley Davidson struck the right rear of a 1992 Chevrolet Caprice that was headed westbound on Oakfield.

The driver of the Caprice was not injured. A 4-year-old child who was a passenger in the car was also uninjured.

The investigation is ongoing, officials said.

Updated, 12:37 p.m.:

A motorcyclist is in critical condition following at Oakfield Drive and Lakewood Drive South, according to Debbie Carter, a spokesperson for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

The early morning crash, reported at 8:44 a.m., involved a motorcyclist on a Harley Davidson and the driver of a Chevrolet, said Carter, who shortly after noon said in a phone interview that a follow-up report on the incident would be forthcoming shortly.

"Earlier this morning there was a traffic accident on Oakfield Drive and it involved a motorcyclist, on a Harley Davidson, and a Chevrolet," she said. "The driver of the Harley Davidson has been transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he is in critical condition."

The occupants of the Chevrolet were not injured, she said.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is advising motorists to avoid the area of an early-morning traffic crash at Oakfield Drive and Lakewood Drive South.

The advisement was issued at 8:44 a.m. today, May 3. At the time, eastbound Oakfield Drive, from Lakewood Drive to Morrison Road, had been closed.
