HIV, STD Testing Today for 75 Cents: 5 Things To Know

Almost-free testing for HIV and sexually transmitted diseases is available today, April 4, at the downtown offices of the Hillsborough County Health Department.

Confidenital HIV and STD testing for 75 cents is being offered through 3 p.m. today, April 4, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Hillsborough County Health Department.

 The normal cost of confidential testing is $30.

Tests are being offered at the Hillsborough County Health Department’s downtown Tampa offices, at 1105 East Kennedy Blvd.

“Sexually transmitted diseases (STD), HIV and AIDS have not gone away and continue to affect every part of our community on a daily basis,” the health department notes in a report announcing the discounted tests.

  1. Approximately 15 Floridians become infected with HIV every day.
  2. Not all STDs have symptoms, making testing the only way to know for sure if you have been infected.
  3. Anyone who is having sex is at risk for a sexually transmitted disease. Sexually active people should make STD testing a part of their regular check-ups.
  4. Genital herpes, chlamydia, HPV, HIV, syphilis, and gonorrhea affect men, women and teens from all walks of life.
