Man Accused Of Drunk Driving Crashes Into Abandoned Truck On I-4
Two vehicles erupted into flames on I-4 Thursday after a Clearwater man's car collided with a truck on the side of the road, troopers said.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Two vehicles caught fire early Thursday morning after a Clearwater man who was accused of drunk driving on Interstate-4 crashed into an abandoned truck, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The 36-year-old driver drove his car eastbound on I-4 just west of McIntosh Road when he lost control of his vehicle at 2:15 a.m., troopers said.
An unoccupied truck was on the shoulder of the interstate that he collided with.

Shortly after the crash, the car and truck caught fire.
A 35-year-old passenger in the car had minor injuries and the driver had none, deputies said.

The driver was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and was cited for careless driving, investigators said.
Due to Marsy's Law, the Florida Highway Patrol will not release the names involved in the crash.
