Man Killed In Gibsonton Gas Station Shooting: Sheriff

GIBSONTON, FL — A man was shot and killed Monday night before 10:09 p.m. near a Gibsonton gas station, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Detectives are asking for anyone with information about the shooting that occurred near the Murphy Gas Station, 9023 Gibsonton Dr., to contact authorities.

"The investigation is in the early stages, but this shooting does not appear to be a random act. At this time, we believe the victim and the shooter knew each other," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "Anyone who may have witnessed this shooting is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200."

Detectives said the suspect is believed to be a Black man, between 20-30 years of age, with a muscular build and was last seen wearing a white shirt, light-colored pants and an orange hat.

The victim was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Hospital, investigators said.

Due to Marsy's Law, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will not release the name of the victim.
