Man Shoots And Kills Relative After Threats Made: Sheriff

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting death in Lithia that investigators said is domestic-related.

LITHIA, FL — A Lithia man was shot multiple times and died on Tuesday night after a relative claimed his life had been threatened by the victim, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Detectives said the man who shot his relative is in his 20s, and he told investigators that his relative threatened him with a gun first.

The shooting occurred inside a home located in the 15000 block of Starling Water Drive before 7 p.m., deputies said.

The relative died at the home, according to authorities.

Investigators believe the shooting is domestic-related, and there is no threat to the public.

"I am heartbroken for this family who is dealing with so much tragedy just two days before Thanksgiving,"Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a news release. "The shooter is cooperating with deputies, and the investigation is ongoing."

No arrests have been made, law enforcement officials said.

Due to Marsy's Law, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will not release their names or exact relationship.
