Photographer’s Choice: Patch Photo of the Week
Photographer's pick from the 2011 St. Puppy's Day Parade at O'Brien's Irish Pub in Brandon.

So mang dogs, so many shots, but this one stood out from the moment I snapped it. Dogs, like little kids, aren’t always at the ready when you plan to snap their pictures. But over time, and with thousands of shots under your belt, sometimes the magic of the moment just comes through, and surprises even yourself.
I pay homage to Robert Capa, one of the pioneers of modern war photography, who has been quoted as saying, “If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.”
Picking this shot, and remembering Capa’s work, afforded me the opportunity to read this review of Capa’s work in The New York Times, in a 2008 piece written by Randy Kennedy and entitled, “The Capa Cache.”

I humbly submit this shot as my selection for this week’s Brandon Patch pick, and my regards to “Freckles,” the subject of my shot, as caught at the the 2011 St. Puppy’s Day Parade at O’Brien’s Irish Pub in Brandon.
