On June 4, Hillsborough County land-use hearing officer Steve Luce recommended approval of a rezoning proposal to allow Learning Gate Community School to build a new campus on 62 acres off Sunset Lane east of U.S. 41, according to <a href="http://www2.tbo.com/news/community-news/2012/jun/13/cwnewso12-zoning-hearing-master-oks-lutz-school-pl-ar-413741/?referer=None&amp;shorturl=http%3A%2F%2Ftbo.ly%2FLjlCPX" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">The Tampa Tribune</a>. The school would serve students in grades six through twelve. The recommendation is scheduled for consideration by the Hillsborough County Commission in July, the Tribune reports. The school, which emphasizes an environmental curriculum, was Learning Gate serves children from Lutz, Land O' Lakes, New Tampa, Carrollwood, Westchase, Temple Terrace and beyond, according to school officials.
