Sears Portrait Studios Take Final Click
Two thousand Sears Portrait Studios closed down last week.
Soft backgrounds. Little girls in pretty Easter dresses. Hands clasped over laps.
Those were the things photos were made of at Sears Portrait Studios. Now after 60 years of making memories for families, the portrait studios have closed down.
The company made the announcement late last week that 2,000 studios, including those in Hillsborough County would be closing down.

That means the portrait studio at Sear's in Westfield Citrus Park no longer exists.
If you've had a recent session at Sears Portrait Studios, the website where customers would normally view their photos indicates you can still order products through April 18.

The rise in digital cameras and particularly smart phones with cameras seem to have cut into Sears' portrait business. In 2012, the iPhone 4 was the most popular device for posting photos to the photo-sharing website Flickr.
