3 Clearwater Convenience Stores Robbed in 1 Day

Breaking: Clearwater police believe the same person is responsible for two of the robberies, but are unsure about the third.

CLEARWATER, FL — A string of convenience store robberies in Clearwater remains under investigation as police search for suspects in the crimes. The same person is believed to be responsible for at least two of the robberies.

The crime spree began around 3:30 a.m. Nov. 21 when a man walked into the 2185 Drew St. Speedway, implied he had a gun and demanded cash from the clerk, the police department wrote in an email to media. The second robbery occurred at 11:04 a.m. at the R&S Market Deli, 2645 State Road 590. In both cases, police say the man left in what is thought to be a silver four-door Nissan. The vehicle has a rear spoiler and may possibly be a 2003 or 2004 model.

All was quiet until about 2 a.m. Nov. 22 when a third robbery occurred at the 1725 7-Eleven. Police say a white male suspect entered the store, implied he was armed and took money from the drawer. He left the scene in a vehicle that was parked nearby.

Police K9 units and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office helicopter responded to the scene, but the suspect was not located. Police say it remains unclear if the 7-Eleven robbery and the two committed earlier on Monday are connected. It is also unclear if the same person might be responsible for a third Monday robbery committed in the sheriff’s office’s jurisdiction.
