Clearwater Gears Up for 9/11 Remembrance

Breaking: Fire stations across Clearwater will mark the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks on Sunday.

CLEARWATER, FL — Sunday marks the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania that claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people.

Clearwater Fire & Rescue has not forgotten the day, nor has it forgotten the 343 firefighters killed in the line of duty. To mark the solemn anniversary, the city’s fire crews are planning a remembrance for this Sunday, Sept. 11.

“At 9:50 a.m. Sunday, fire trucks will be brought ut of the stations in Clearwater with their lights activated,” the city explained in an email. “Nine minutes later, at the time that the South Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed on Sept. 11, 2001, there will be a radio call and subsequent moment of silence.”
