Clearwater Police Help With Major Drug, Gun Arrests in Largo
The roundup was part of an investigation into narcotics activity in the area of Beverly Avenue and Clearwater-Largo Road, police said.
Clearwater Police assisted with a major roundup of illegal drugs and firearms that were being distributed from a Largo apartment, authorities said Thursday.
Teams from Clearwater Police and Largo Police partnered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to execute a search warrant Monday at 908 Beverly Ave. in Largo, where officials said several firearms and narcotics had been purchased.
Largo Police had begun an investigation in the area of Beverly Avenue and Clearwater-Largo Road in October 2012 following tips from the community about narcotics activity there. Through undercover street level drug transactions, investigators learned the Beverly Avenue apartment was a primary distriubtion point, according to Lt. Stephen M. Slaughter, police spokesperson.

The search of the residence, and subsequent sweeps of other suspects on Tuesday and Wednesday, resulted in the removal of 13 firearms, about 20 grams of crack cocaine, 40 grams of marijuana, 40 grams of hydrocodone and 40 grams of various other narcotics.
The firearms seized ranged from semi-automatic rifles to a shotgun and several handguns, four of which were stolen, Slaughter said.
