Clearwater’s New Fire Chief Takes Office
Scott Ehlers was sworn in as the new chief for Clearwater Fire & Rescue Monday morning.

CLEARWATER, FL — Scott Ehlers is officially the city of Clearwater’s new fire chief. Ehlers was sworn in during a Monday morning ceremony at City Hall.
City Manager Bill Horne announced Ehlers as the next Clearwater Fire & Rescue chief last week. Ehlers brings more than 35 years' experience in fire service to the post. Prior to accepting the fire chief's job, he served as the city's emergency manager since March 2014. Before coming to Clearwater, he worked as Tampa Fire Rescue’s assistant chief of operations.
"I am excited about selecting Scott Ehlers as the new Clearwater Fire and Rescue Chief," Horne said in a statement. "He will bring a strong familiarity with the fire department's strength and weaknesses and strong relationships within the Clearwater staff. He will be well received by the fire department employees and union officials. He will give us a great opportunity to build and maintain positive images of our fire service employees in the community."
