GROOVE IS IN THE HEART: 70'S & 80'S THROWBACK PARTY! Celebrate the style and music of the 70's and 80's. Raffles, food, drink specials and throwback tunes at Pete & Shorty's Saturday evening. Part of the proceeds go to Big Brothers of Pinellas.

U.S. ROWING MASTERS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS: Enjoy a world-class rowing competition and scenic views at Sarasota's brand new Nathan Benderson Park rowing venue all weekend long, Aug. 15-18. More than 2,000 masters rowers from around the country will compete in 200 events on the 400-acre lake at 2500 N. Honore Ave., Sarasota. TARPON SPRINGS HIPPIE FEST AND FOOD TRUCK RALLY: Break out your tie dye and have a groovy time beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Sponge Docks in downtown Tarpon Springs.
