MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT AT THE CLEARWATER THRESHERS GAME: The first 1,000 guests at Saturday’s Threshers game will get a camouflage bucket hat.  All current and former service members can purchase $5 Field Box tickets per person or $15.50 per person for Hot Corner Tickets, which include a game ticket and buffet.

GROOVE IS IN THE HEART: 70'S & 80'S THROWBACK PARTY! Celebrate the style and music of the 70's and 80's. Raffles, food, drink specials and throwback tunes at Pete & Shorty's Saturday evening. Part of the proceeds go to Big Brothers of Pinellas.

U.S. ROWING MASTERS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS: Enjoy a world-class rowing competition and scenic views at Sarasota's brand new Nathan Benderson Park rowing venue all weekend long, Aug. 15-18. More than 2,000 masters rowers from around the country will compete in 200 events on the 400-acre lake at 2500 N. Honore Ave., Sarasota. Races kick off at 8 a.m. each day and continue through the afternoon. It's free to attend. See more details on Sarasota Patch.

TARPON SPRINGS HIPPIE FEST AND FOOD TRUCK RALLY: Break out your tie dye and have a groovy time beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Sponge Docks in downtown Tarpon Springs. There will be a VW Bug show, hula hoop contest and live music, but it's not all about throwbacks — enjoy the latest food truck trend, plus other vendors and more.
