Suspected DUI Driver Slammed Through U.S. 19 Concrete Divider
A Clearwater man suspected of driving under the influence crashed through a concrete divider on U.S. 19 and ran from the scene, police said.

CLEARWATER, FL — A 26-year-old Clearwater man suspected of driving under the influence slammed through a concrete dividing wall on U.S. 19 early Tuesday morning, authorities said.
The driver didn’t slow or stop for a stop sign at U.S. 19 and Nursery Road, Clearwater police said in a social media post.
His car, heading eastbound, crossed over the southbound frontage road, crashed through the dividing wall and came to a stop in the southbound lanes of U.S. 19.

Pieces of concrete were strewn all over the road, and the southbound lanes were closed for several hours.
The driver ran from the scene but was arrested not long after that.

He was treated at Mease Countryside Hospital and then booked into the Pinellas County Jail on charges of DUI and leaving the scene of a crash involving injury, police said.
