Five Ways to Keep Your 'Exercise More' Resolution
With the new year in full swing, here's a list of places in Clearwater that will allow you to stick to your promise to get healthy.
Everyone has a New Year's resolution, or five, and at the top of many lists is the promise to get healthy.
Here's our list of five ways to keep your promise to exercise more in 2012. Motivation not included.
1. Hot Yoga. Hot yoga is, well, hot right now, and there are a couple of places in Clearwater where you can jump right in on the latest exercise craze. on U.S. 19 and on McMullen Booth Road both offer a variety of classes based on the traditional discipline with a modern twist.

2. Bicycling. Thanks to our favorable yearlong climate, cycling is always an enjoyable option for getting in shape in this area. And since a good chunk of the 34-mile Pinellas Trail runs through Clearwater, and the beach and Ream Wilson East West trail are only a short sidetrack away, there's no better way to shed some holiday pounds than riding a bike around town. , and the are some great places to gear up for your next (or first) ride.
3. Disc Golf. Clearwater is home to two disc golf facilities and 12 time professional disc golf champion Ken Climo. The to golf but with a Frisbee of sorts. Most of the courses are free. 4. Fitness centers and Martial arts. These stalwarts are not to be overlooked as the staples of weight loss and exercise. Clearwater has a number of fitness centers, including , , and . There's another way to have fun and get fit at the same time. , and are a few of the academies in the area that offer classes where you can kick butt and lose weight simultaneously.
5. Water Sports. No fitness Clearwater fitness list would be complete without the inclusion of some water-based activities. Use our aquatic surroundings to your advantage through local companies such as , which offers kayak rentals and organizes paddle trips, or , where you can plunge the depths of the Gulf off the back of a 30-foot scuba boat.
