Florida Coast Guard Has Its Own Reality TV Show

Many folks may not know that the Clearwater Coast Guard members are part of a cast of 'stars' on a weekly reality TV show on the Weather Channel.

If you enjoy watching TV crime thrillers and high seas adventures, you may want to check out the Florida Coast Guard's reality TV show on Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. on the Weather Channel.

The Coast Guard takes videos of some of the more dramatic work of the 7th Coast Guard District, from Key West to Clearwater. The TV show is developing quite a following of people who enjoy watching real-life Coast Guard adventures, from drug interdictions to water rescues.

"The danger, drama and excitement grow out of assignments coming from Coast Guard Bases located in Clearwater, the Keys and Miami/Everglades. 'Coast Guard Florida'  follows the men and women of the 7th Coast Guard District who are charged with keeping America's ports secure and waterways safe, stemming the flow of illegal narcotics, securing the southeast border, protecting the environment, enforcing maritime laws and treaties and saving those in peril on the sea."

Coast Guard Florida covers an area of 1.8 million square miles that includes  9,500 miles of shoreline.
