The new station was built on the same site as the old Station 46, which opened in 1964. The two-story structure has nearly 11,000 square feet of space. It has the original fire poles from the previous station, as well as part of the original facade when it was formerly known as Station 2.

Following the grand opening ceremony, residents were invited to tour the new facility.
