Kitten Nearly Flushed Down Sewer: Clearwater Police
A kitten was rescued from a sewer cleanout on Fairwood Avenue despite repeated flushings by residents, Clearwater police said.

CLEARWATER, FL — A kitten was recently rescued from a sewer cleanout on Fairwood Avenue, the Clearwater Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.
Officers initially responded to reports of a kitten stuck in a storm drain but found the cat was stuck, instead, inside a sewer cleanout.
After multiple failed attempts with a homemade snare, the kitten was rescued.

The rescue was complicated by residents who weren’t aware of the situation flushing their toilets and causing the kitten to be flushed down the pipe, police said.
Each time, officers had to lure the kitten back to the cleanout to get it into a position to be rescued.
