Los Mayas Flunks Restaurant Inspection, Temporarily Closes
The restaurant was cited for 32 code violations that included roaches in the tortilla chips.

A Clearwater Mexican restaurant shut down temporarily this week, after state inspectors found dead roaches in the chips, flies in pineapple sauce and more roaches in the ice.
The Tampa Bay Times reports that Los Mayas at 1200 Cleveland St. had pledged to re-open by late Friday afternoon, after a followup inspection showed that the restaurant corrected the 32 code violations, including 10 that were "critical."
The restaurant also was cited for "evidence of Raid roach spray throughout the kitchen area," and staff failing to wear gloves when prepping food.
