Multiple Arrests for Fighting on Clearwater Beach Friday

Clearwater Police took nine people into custody for charges ranging from disorderly conduct to battery on a law enforcement officer.

With spring break winding down it appears tempers were flaring up, as Clearwater Police officers arrested nine subjects on a variety of charges stemming from multiple fights on Friday.

According to the police report, beach officers responded to numerous fight calls involving large groups of subjects between 4:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Just before 8:30, officers took several suspects into custody who were "willfully engaged in fights" in the area of Pier 60. 

During the encounter, several subjects resisted arrest, and they were charged accordingly.

No police officers were injured, but one adult arrestee required medical attention after receiving a minor, taser-induced injury, according to the report.
