Park Campgrounds Close During Tropical Storm

The following state park campgrounds in the Tampa metro area have been shut down because of the storm.

Thirty state park campgrounds are closed because of strong winds and flooding during Tropical Storm Andrea.

All parks remained open for day use except for Anclote Key Preserve.

  • Manatee Springs State Park
  • Lake Manatee River State Park
  • Oscar Scherer State Park
  • Weeki Wachee Springs State Park
  • Hillsborough River State Park
  • Anclote Key Preserve State Park
  • Caladesi Island State Park

Tropical Storm Andrea is expected to make landfall Thursday in the vicinity of Cedar Key. The primary effects from Andrea are expected to be heavy rainfall across much of the Florida peninsula.

The Department advises that the public check the state parks website for updates on the status of parks and trails, which park staff is constantly updating.
